Second outbreak of monkeypox occurred outside of Western and Central Africa in the United Kingdom in 2018. Two of the cases had recent travel to Nigeria where there is an ongoing monkeypox outbreak since 2017. Coordinated response activities by both Nigeria and UK ensured no further transmission of monkeypox occurred in the UK. Re-emergence of monkeypox in UK and impetus for introduction of smallpox vaccine which is cross-protective for monkeypox are low.Published
